I'm going to be cancelling my paid account at Photobucket,
so you may notice a lot of dead image links at some point in the future here.
(Right now they're still being hosted because I have a paid account).
I've switched over to SmugMug, so everything should be hosted from here on in.
So we should be good for a little while longer anyway.
Now let's see if this works.

Prompt me?

I'm testing a theory, which says that half my problem is the dreaded "blank page" phenomena - ie, it's hard to START something, but easy to keep going after it's started. Writing? I can keep trundling along slowly working on the worldbuilding stuff, because there's a nice list of prompts for me to sit and think on. Art? Not to much. I have a list of stuff I'd like to do, but it's all large, time intensive Big Finished Pieces sort of things.

So, I asked my Patreon, and I'll ask everyone here too - prompt me? Art prompt? Give me nouns, adjectives, things that have a visual presence, either singularly or in groups. Or fandoms/characters, if they're ones I know or you think I might know!

I'll mix and match as the ideas takes me, and I promise to post stuff here (and tumblr/instagram) after I post to Patreon. I'd just love to compile a nice large list (like the #worldbuildinginjune list large) of art prompt ideas that I can do sketches from.

So I guess related to my last post about Ownership,

Back to the subject of death of the author, I hate that this phrase is regarded as a universally positive thing.

I mention the word rapist but there's no actual assault, also I mention genitalia attributes?? more rambling )

exfriends

Friends and acquaintances have come and gone in my life. Some amicably, some... Not so much. But one thing I want to be clear about: My pain is not your pain.

If I have had a falling out with a person, I generally don't want other people involved if they weren't already involved before hand. I don't like losing friends, I get no pleasure in cutting off people I cared about so I don't like it when I'm not allowed to grieve. Talking about how 'bad' an ex-friend was, doing nothing but pointing out the negative, that doesn't help me. No, really, please don't find me and tell me what tiny, minuscule infraction bad ex-friend is doing now unless it's relevant. Maybe a little comeuppance where appropriate, or settling of concerns or fears, but really, they're not a part of my life, I don't need to know what they're doing with their lives unless it's to help me avoid them. If I have someone filtered out, there's a reason for it. Good things happened with those people, let me have that at least. Not everyone copes in the same way and that's fine.

Related to that, I do not care who are friends with my ex-friends. Those people might have hurt me but that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. Other people are allowed to have different experiences with ex-friends than I had. Long as you don't try to force me to interact with them, I don't care. At most, there are some people I worry about being mislead or mistreated by a person, but if there has been change I'm not going to let personal experiences get in the way of that. (for the record, I don't negatively judge people who can't be friends with people who are interacting with an ex friend especially in an abusive situation) At the most I'll worry about people getting abused themselves by people that have hurt me, or I may not trust them as much, but can't really force them to 'choose'.

Interpersonal stuff is complicated.

Other than that, don't expect to see much of me online until Tuesday.

Meet Bonbon the Tiny Mustang

In the last year I've participated in a few fundraisers for a horse rescue ranch in my area. Last fall, they took in several wild Mustang mares who had nowhere else to go. One turned out to be in foal, and the baby -- this adorable filly -- was born just over a week ago. On Friday night I went out and got some photos of her. I used a fairly small image size to spare your browser; click to enlarge.

It's kinda weird because this the first time that they're announcing a new Doctor and I'm actually interested about who's cast instead of being paralysed with not caring. Tennant was announced before I'd even seen the show, Smith was announced when I had been stuck somewhere around mid season 2 for almost three years, and Capaldi was announced when I had quit watching the show again because of the boringness of Eleven/Clara era.

(this is also the first time I'm actually sad to see the current Doctor go, instead of thinking "Maybe I'll like the next one better")

Also, if in 2013 my reaction was "Was it a woman? No? Okay then. " now it's "Please be a woman, please be a woman, please be a woman"

I'm not saying that I'll automatically like the next Doctor if it's a woman, but the odds are much better considering that Doctor Who is the only current show with a male lead that I even watch anymore. But storywise as well, I think it would be quite an anticlimax if Twelve went through all the trouble of fighting the regeneration only to end up looking like Kris Marshall. What a tragic ending that would be.

(For the record, I really liked Kris Marshal in My Life in Film and My Family, but I just think he'd be such a boring choice for the Doctor)

eta: And it's Jodie Whitaker. I kinda suspected it might be her ever since I heard that she'd suddenly risen in the betting lists this week - the same happened with Capaldi as well. Not my first choice, but I approve. Now, hopefully the new Doctor's personalilty will be more like Nine or Twelve than Ten or Eleven to avoid making the Doctor into a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl. And please let her have clothes that you could actually fight daleks in.

It's always weird to draw a grouse while thinking of how,
in Australia,
'grouse' means 'awesome'
like: 'that's so grouse man.'
But I'm glad it's fallen out of colloquial vernacular in Perth.
I was never a fan.
