The wood pieces are all stuff I found on the ground. Three of the four pieces of wood I used here are broken surveyor's stakes from alongside the road.
The "wax medium" is Dorland's Wax Medium, which most good art suppliers carry (well -- in the U.S. they do; not sure about elsewhere). No heating required, mix it cold with oil paint, apply w/palette knife and/or brushes. I love how the wax texture works with the wood.
