I keep forgetting it exists. *blush*
Anyway, here's some of my recent soft pastel work.
And by recent, I mean today.
I even mean 'currently getting pastel dust on the keyboard.'

MATERIALS: Soft pastels (Schminke / Windsor & Newton), Pastel pencils (Carbothello), Pastel paper (Mi Tientes), Hard pastels (Faber Castell) and limited fixative.






Please forgive the quality of this photo. It's heavily overcast today, and my camera really struggles to capture the colour saturation and details of the Wandsuna series. I really should get a tripod one of these days.

This is so lovely. Is there a story that goes with it? It looks as though the Finches have somehow hatched Foxes and are much less than happy with this state of affairs.

It is a narrative piece, so there is a story; but I prefer people to come up with their own stories for the Wandsuna series. I kind of hope there's enough symbolism and emotion in there, that people can find narratives that mean something to them. For example, I never intended the nest to symbolically double as a pyre of flames, but a few people have pointed out the foxes could represent flames and the nest could double as a pyre, adding a level of narrative I would never have thought of on my own but is entirely plausible in such a symbolic piece. I love narrative construction in expressive artwork. :)
