Oh, we're all posting up recent developments? Awesome!

Here's one of my latest:

I'll be nice and pop the other three back here behind the cut.  )

Here is a painting based on The Red Shoes by Hans Christian Anderson. I sort of fell in love with an illustration of this story in the big fairy tale book I had as a kid. This is a little slice of that image.

Anyway, here's my version:

[personal profile] blackmare said she feels lonely being the one that posts all the time, so it is pretty much our duty to prevent this! Because otherwise she might start not posting, and I don't think anybody wants that. So, here is a wee zombie I drew a while ago:

A little green zombie missing one arm and leg (with bone jutting out) and glowing eyes, dressed in brown rags.

I think every high school class in America (and probably elsewhere) has That Girl Who Draws Horses All the Time. In my class, it was me. I was not, at the time, anywhere near as good at it as I am now, but that's what all the practice was for.

Queenie Von Curves is a local burlesque performer who modeled for Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School today.
This was seriously the most fun I've had drawing since I don't know when.

Sketch from life in pastel pencils and carbon pencil, 7.5 x 10.5". We were snowed in, here in Minneapolis, and thus lounging around in the basement all afternoon.  This was so much fun, though not easy; Indiana kept moving her legs.

I did v-grams for my circle and figured I could share them here, here are the ones that turned out decent (I think):

Not quite as polished as other people's stuff, but cute! )

From Tuesday night when I was gallery-tending. I was very happy to find a big vase of flowers on hand there, so I spent the time drawing lilies. These are about 9" x 7", pastel pencils on paper.

These are for sale, either unmatted at $25 each, or archivally matted to fit an 11 x 14" frame at $45 each/$79 for the set of two.

I've only really started 'learning' to draw in the last few years (mostly off rather than on) but I'm hoping now to keep it up.

So, if what they say is true and whatever you're doing on New Year's Day is what you'll be doing the rest of the year, then I shall be spending twenny-leven sitting in starbucks posting about dolls. ^_^ Not bad, that!

Here are a couple dolls I just finished!

sofia-1

Hunter - Sofia

~mixed media art doll
~2010

9" tall

Sofia loves to dance and is quite stylish. She keeps dragonflies in her garden and has won best in show at the Dragonfly Show three years in a row!

Two dolls plus some making of pics. Pretty picture intensive for those on dial up! )

*****

I love Sofia's skirt. I would wear it myself if I had enough scraps to make one! ^_^ I would also wear Lorne's tail, but it seems to be quite attached to him. ~_^

Thank you for looking! ^___^

Oil paint and wax medium on canvas, 30 x 40", finished last night.

This is one of a series of pieces based on the cracks in a concrete floor in a big old warehouse in St. Paul, MN. There really are these majestic winged figures all over the place. And the plant forms are from an invasive weed in the euphorbia family. I found it growing by the railroad tracks.

Portrait of Maggie, 24 x 24" oil on canvas. Finished 12/23/10. Maggie's owner utterly adores her, and so the owner's daughter commissioned this portrait as a Christmas gift. I can't wait to hear back after he sees it tomorrow.

Kestrel, detail of mural on plate glass panels of an elevator shaft. Yep, an elevator. In a home. The house came that way and the owner doesn't like or ever use the elevator, and the shaft is glass on 3 sides so you could see into it -- and it was UGLY in there. So I was hired to solve that problem by painting the glass. Very unusual and fun job.

Please click on the image to get a better view and more info on this piece and it's inspiration :) Feedback is awesome! Also, visiting my shop and perhaps purchasing one of my pieces would be such a wonderful treat. Yeah, I know, shameless advertising. A girl has to eat ;)

If you are an advent watcher of the TV series, Supernatural, then you will probably enjoy this piece of art I did a while ago. Or you just might enjoy it for being abstract. I wanted to make an abstract art depicting the good, evil and in between. Click the image to see a bigger version and to see what Team Free Will consist of ;)

Feedback is awesome! So, let me know what you think.

Hey folks- sorry, no big dump of new work or anything this time- something different, instead. For those of you who (like me) sell your work,  I've started up an advertising thread over in my own journal, to give people a chance to spread the word about their stuff before we all get buried under the avalanche of holiday advertising. So, if you're interested in promoting your own work, you may want to take a couple of minutes and get a comment in over there- or if you're looking for a good spot to pick up some really unique stuff, make sure to drop by and check it out.

Anyways, enough of me rambling- here's the link. go, post, and enjoy.

...sigh... I really need to remember to get better about posting around to communities when I've got some new pieces finished. Anyways, here's the latest pair- some redesign work I did on a logo for a *ahem* fictional group of ne'er-do-wells.
